What is Lumini?

Lumini is a helper that sits in your Mac"s menu bar. You hold two keys, ask a question out loud, and it answers you in a natural voice. It sees your screen so it knows what you"re talking about. And a little blue arrow points at buttons and menus when it helps.

How does it work?

You hold Ctrl+Option and speak. Lumini writes down what you said. It takes a quick picture of your screen. Then it sends both to an AI that understands what it sees. The AI writes back, and Lumini reads the answer out loud to you. All of this goes through a Cloudflare Worker that you set up yourself — your data stays with you.

What can Lumini do?

Lumini is Lumini"s action mode. Say "Lumini" and then what you want done. It can: create a note, search the web, set a reminder, add a calendar event, open a website, read or write a file, click buttons, and type text. Anything that moves your mouse needs your OK first.

What is Tutor mode?

Toggle on Tutor mode and Lumini watches what you do. When you stop for a moment, it speaks up with a tip — explains a button, suggests what to try next, walks you through the app. The blue arrow points at things as Lumini explains them.

What does Lumini need access to?

Accepted Answer

Three things: your microphone (to hear you), screen recording (to see your screen), and accessibility (so the Ctrl+Option shortcut works). These are normal Mac permission pop-ups you"ll see when you first open the app.

Is my data safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your API keys stay on your own Cloudflare Worker. Screenshots go to the AI provider just for that one question, then they"re gone. Lumini doesn"t store your screen or your questions. There is zero tracking in the app.

What Mac do I need?

Any Mac with macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or newer. Works on both Apple Silicon and Intel.
