How Lumini helps with CSM prep
You're doing CSM practice questions on Scrum.org, Mountain Goat Software, or a Udemy course. You get a question wrong about who is responsible for the Product Backlog. You picked "The Scrum Team" but the correct answer is "The Product Owner." You know both answers sound plausible — the whole team contributes to the backlog, but only one person is accountable.
Lumini sees the question and your wrong answer on screen. Hold Ctrl+Option and ask "Why is the Product Owner the answer and not the Scrum Team?" Lumini explains: "The Scrum Guide is very specific about accountability. The Product Owner is ACCOUNTABLE for the Product Backlog — its content, ordering, and transparency. The Developers can contribute to the backlog items, and the Scrum Master can facilitate, but ultimate accountability rests with one person. This distinction between 'responsible' (who does the work) and 'accountable' (who owns the outcome) is tested constantly. I'm pointing at the word 'accountable' in the question — that's your key word."
The Scrum Guide distinctions
The CSM exam tests your knowledge of precise Scrum Guide language. Lumini reinforces the distinctions: "The question asks about the Sprint Retrospective. The Scrum Team attends, but who FACILITATES it? The Scrum Master ensures it happens and is timeboxed, and as a facilitator, the Scrum Master guides the discussion. But the Scrum Master is also a participant as a Scrum Team member. This dual role is a common exam trap."
For events and timeboxes: "A one-month Sprint has a maximum Sprint Planning timebox of 8 hours. A shorter Sprint has a proportionally shorter timebox. But the question says 'what is the MAXIMUM timebox for Sprint Planning.' The answer is always 8 hours regardless of Sprint length — the Scrum Guide states 'Sprint Planning is timeboxed to a maximum of eight hours for a one-month Sprint. For shorter Sprints, the event is usually shorter.' The word 'usually' means it's not mandatory — 8 hours is always the maximum."
Example questions to ask Lumini
- "Who is accountable vs who is responsible — what's the difference?"
- "Can the Product Owner also be the Scrum Master?"
- "What happens if the Sprint Goal becomes obsolete?"
- "Is the Daily Scrum a status meeting — why or why not?"
- "Who can cancel a Sprint — and what happens when it's cancelled?"
